If you are considering relocating to Manhattan, KS, I want to be the first to welcome you and share some of the things I love about this amazing area!

Are you looking to relocate to the area, if so, I want to be the first to welcome you to Manhattan, KS! First things first, the basics about the Manhattan area. We are located off I-70 in the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas. Our community is bordered by the Konza Prairie, the Big Blue River, Tuttle Creek, and Fort Riley, KS. With more than 50,000 residents, Manhattan's vibrancy comes from its combination of college students, transient population, and the many locals that love all this region has to offer.

I first moved to Manhattan over 25 years ago and I, like most people absolutely love this town. The town has been able to keep its small-town charm while offering its residents many options for entertainment, shopping, dining, outdoor activities, and much more!

Manhattan, KS offers a variety of shopping for locals and visitors. Our stores range from many that are locally owned and operated to big box stores.

You will find all kinds of options for shopping in the area. In our amazing Downtown, you will find a wonderful mixture of clothing stores, home decor, home furnishings, and even kitchen goods. Almost all stores in our downtown are locally owned and operated. Plus, there is always something going on in our Downtown, you can keep up with those events by following the Downtown Manhattan Facebook page.

The Westloop Shopping Center offers a combination of local businesses like Manhattan Appliance and Sleep Source, Eat the Frog Fitness, and big box stores like Marshall's, JoAnn's, and Dillon's. The Plaza De' Maria is located on the East Side of town off HWY 24 and there you find Ross, Old Navy, 5 Below, Academy Sports, and more. The third street development area has a mix of Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Burlington Coat Factory (coming soon), and restaurants! The Manhattan Town Center has a mix of national chain shopping and local merchants, our Mall is centrally located between Downtown Manhattan and HWY 24.

You can find a variety of arts and entertainment in Manhattan, KS. Throughout the year the McCain Performing Arts Center located on the Kansas State University campus hosts a variety of Broadway Musicals, plays, amazing musicians, and more! The City of Manhattan hosts the Arts in the Park series throughout the summer in Larry Norvell Band Shell at Manhattan City Park. The Manhattan Performing Arts Center features a variety of theater, music, two art galleries, a clay studio, as well as many educational programs. On the KSU Campus, you will find the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, the Beach Museum is how it is known locally is free to the general public, and mixes both traveling exhibits and regional artwork! In Downtown Manhattan you can enjoy several galleries SNW Gallery, 409 Gallery, and coming soon, The Museum of Art and Light!

Manhattan, KS is a foodie town! The restaurants in Manhattan, KS vary from traditional to small plates and everything in between! We also have a growing amount of food trucks in Manhattan, KS that are serving up Indian, Greek, Mexican, BBQ, and more.

If you are a foodie then you are going to love Manhattan! While you can find many chain restaurants in the town, what you might not expect is all of our local food options! To start your day you will want to check out places like The Chef, Early Edition, and Guilty Biscuit. If you are a food truck fan, we have many options in town, from Greek to BBQ, Mexican and more our food trucks are always out and about in town. Locals and visitors alike are always grabbing lunch and Dinner in Aggieville or Downtown Manhattan! In addition to some amazing food, many restaurants in Aggieville and Downtown Manhattan offer diners a mix of both indoor and outdoor seating along with a couple of rooftop dining options.

For those who love the outdoors, this section is for you! Manhattan features several hiking opportunities, especially in the picturesque Flint Hills! The Konza Prairie has various trail options that allow you to immerse yourself in nature that has been undisturbed. If kayaking is what you are looking for, you will find places to put in along the Big Blue River, Kansas River, Tuttle Puddle, and Milford Lake! Manhattan, KS has walking and biking trails that encompass the entire city which allows easy for users, you can find access in many residential neighborhoods and commercial areas.

If you follow college sports then you know that most of us in the area bleed purple for our Kansas State Wildcats! KSU sports keep the athletic energy alive! In addition to our residents, over 50,000 of our friends and family will flood the town during home football games. Tailgating is also a sport, so on these days, you will see cookouts going on all day long both at the stadium and many people's homes. Sports with the Cats also include the world-class Track and Field team, baseball at Tointon Family Stadium, Girls' Soccer, Volleyball, and various club teams like softball and rodeo! All these activities keep us in a lot of purple and us busy during the school year.

As a real estate agent, I understand that housing is also incredibly important when you are considering relocating to an area and we have many options for that as well. Our neighborhoods vary from those with greater walkability, lake living, more traditional, large lots, golf course communities, condos, multi-family and more! One thing that so many love is the commute, getting across town will only take about 15 minutes depending on the time of day, but as a whole, the commutes are quick, and most neighborhoods have easy access to our main roads and highways.
